I have just been looking at the published list of MP expenses and apart from the blacked out information it does tell you one thing. These MP's have a habit of signing their monthly receipt with out thinking about it. I looked at one MP's and what was striking is the the fact his food bill was the same total every month £400 with a small reduction when the house is in recess. Does he eat the same food month in month out and has not the cost of food gone up over 8% in the last 12 month. Another area that needs to be questioned is council tax £70 a month now what's strange is this amount is the same going back to 2004 right up to the 2008 published figures has he not a council tax raise in 4 years, even the amount is questionable wherever the property is located the council rates must be the cheapest in the country. Or as I see it the figure was plucked out of thin air as with the food. My final and very prevalent is just what the hell do MP's spend their salary on, a box of chocolate for the wife maybe. Oops have to be careful what I say they may even put that on expenses. The figures quoted are from John Battle MP for Leeds West published allowances foot note do you think MP's claim the maximum allowed and divide the the sub section to reach this total? England my England Goodbye to my England, So long my old friend Your days are numbered, being brought to an end To be Scottish, Irish or Welsh that's fine But don't say you're English, that's way out of line.
The French and the Germans may call themselves such So may Norwegians, the Swedes and the Dutch You can say you are Russian or maybe a Dane But don't say you're English ever again. At Broadcasting House the word is taboo In Brussels it's scrapped, in Parliament too Even schools are affected.. Staff do as they're told They must not teach children about England of old. Writers like Shakespeare, Milton and Shaw The pupils don't learn about them anymore How about Agincourt, Hastings , Arnhem or Mons ? When England lost hosts of her very brave sons. We are not Europeans, how can we be? Europe is miles away, over the sea We're the English from England, let's all be proud Stand up and be counted - Shout it out loud! Let's tell our Government and Brussels too We're proud of our heritage and the Red, White and Blue Fly the flag of Saint George or the Union Jack Let the world know - WE WANT OUR ENGLAND BACK !!!! The British National Party as no part to play in our politics. It is evil, and raciest. All you people who thought you were giving Brown a bloody nose has let in through the back door 2 BNP's MEP's who are responsible for thousands of constituents in Lancashire and Yorkshire. My MEP's now, that is very hurtful to me personally. I had relatives who fought in WW2 to rid us of Nazism and you people who voted for them have made their sacrifice worthless. So all you people who did not vote at all because you could not be bothered or for any other pathetic excuse have now given the BNP a platform to promote their vile policy's. Think about it very carefully had UKIP got another 900 votes I would not be writing this blog, not that I am a supporter of that party either at least it is not raciest. Why did you not turn out and vote green for god sake. Did you know the BNP only allow white people to stand as a candidate, that alone is against the law under the discrimination law of our country, of course the BNP will tell you otherwise. They have in fact broken electoral law and the commission will be looking into this. Their victory may only short lived and could be expelled if found guilty. One more point those who voted BNP have now given them £4 million to promote their policy's and probably made Griffin a millionaire I hope you are proud of your selves Labour has failed the working class and Tories have never helped the working class so I have an alternative to offer you tell me if you agree.
THE PEOPLES PARTY strives to establish a radical democracy that places people's lives under their own control - a non-racist, classless society... where working people own and control the means of production and distribution through democratically-controlled public agencies; where full employment is realized for everyone who wants to work; where workers have the right to form unions freely, and to strike and engage in other forms of job actions; and where the production of society is used for the benefit of all humanity, not for the private profit of a few. We believe socialism and democracy are one and indivisible. The working class is in a key and central position to fight back against the ruling capitalist class and its power. The working class is the major force worldwide that can lead the way to a socialist future - to a real radical democracy from below. The Peoples Party fights for progressive changes compatible with a socialist future. We support militant working class struggles and electoral action, independent of the capitalist controlled two-party system, to present socialist alternatives. We strive for democratic revolutions - radical and fundamental changes in the structure and quality of economic, political, and personal relations - to abolish the power now exercised by the few who control great wealth and the government. The Peoples party is a democratic, multi-tendency organization, with structure and practices visible and accessible to all members
The Economy: The Peoples party stands for a fundamental transformation of the economy, focusing on production for need not profit. So-called fair trade is meaningless as long as the world economy is dominated by a few massive corporations. Only a global transformation from capitalism to democratic socialism will provide the conditions for international peace, justice, and economic cooperation based on the large-scale transfer of resources and technology from the developed to the developing countries. We call for worker and community ownership and control of corporations within the framework of a decentralized and democratically determined economic plan. We call for a minimum wage of £6 per hour, indexed to the cost of living. We call for a full employment policy. We support the provision of a livable guaranteed annual income We call for all financial and insurance institutions to be socially owned and operated by a democratically-controlled national banking authority, which should include credit unions, mutual insurance cooperatives, and cooperative state banks. In the meantime, we call for re-regulation of the banking and insurance industries. We call for compensation to communities-- and compensation, re-training, and other support service for workers-- affected by plant and military base closings as stop-gap measures until we reach our goal of creating a socialist society totally separate from the global capitalist economy. We oppose the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank, and the World Trade Organization as instruments of capitalist oppression throughout the world. We demand cancellation of Third World debt. We call for a National Pension Authority to hold the assets of private pension funds, and a levy against corporate assets for any pension fund deficits. We call for increased and expanded welfare assistance and increased and expanded unemployment compensation at 100% of a worker's previous income or the minimum wage, whichever is higher, for the full period of unemployment or re-training, whichever is longer. We support a program of massive government investment in both urban and rural areas for infrastructure reconstruction and economic development. We support tax benefits for renters equal to those for homeowners. We call for the elimination of subsidies and tax breaks that benefit corporations and all other forms of corporate welfare. Human Needs: The Peoples Party believes that art is an integral part of daily life, and should not be treated as a commodity produced by the activity of an elite group. All members of society should have ample opportunities for participation in art and cultural activities. We support the formation of collectives, arts centres and schools, independent media, theatres and festivals to advance such cultural endeavours as music, poetry, prose, drama, dance, storytelling, visual art, a We support guaranteed incomes and grants for artists and performers. We support making schools and workplaces available as cultural centres. We call for full funding of community and school arts programs for people of all ages. We call for full funding to keep libraries, museums, cultural centres, and historic sites open and accessible to all. We call for the preservation of literature, art, music, dance, oral traditions, and audio and video recordings that have arisen out of people's experiences: young and old, of all nationalities and colours, sexual preferences, working, un- and under-employed, and disabled. We support the autonomy of artists of colour, women artists, and disabled artists in their creative work. We support the right of artists to join and form unions to protect their labour rights and to form collectives to advance common artistic visions. Education The Peoples Party recognizes the right of students of all ages to a free, quality education in a safe and supportive environment, and of all school employees to good wages, benefits, and working conditions. We call for full and equal funding of public education; for the restoration of a comprehensive curriculum, including art, music, world languages, and physical education; for an end to all public funding of private schools; and for free tuition and full-time teachers with full benefits. We support public child care starting from infancy, and public education starting at age three, with caregivers and teachers of young children receiving training, wages, and benefits comparable to that of teachers at every other level of the educational system. We call for an egalitarian educational system with teaching methods that accommodate the wide range of teaching and learning styles, and that provides all students with the means to obtain the post-secondary education they desire. We call a maximum of 15 students per teacher for 6th form and a maximum of 30 students per teacher at the secondary level. We call for vigorous affirmative action programs so that the faculty and student-body of all schools reflect the community at large in terms of race/ethnicity, gender, and economic background. We support multicultural, multilingual, experimental education at all levels. We support student, parent, and teacher control of curriculum formation, and in the hiring and dismissal procedures of school personnel, through the formation of local school/community committees. We call for student representation on school boards, and for those boards to be fully accountable to students, parents, teachers, and school workers. We call for opportunities for lifelong self-education, with retraining programs and transitional financial support for workers displaced by technological advances. We support full and unrestricted health education programs, including sex education, with curriculum input from parents, students, teachers, and health care professionals. We oppose school-sponsored prayer or any other religious practice in public schools, and all efforts to limit the teaching of evolution or to combine it with non-scientific theories. We call for free and open access to information, including the public ownership of all large databases. Health Care The Peoples Party stands for a socialized health care system based on universal coverage, salaried doctors and health care workers, and revenues derived from a steeply graduated income tax. We support a national health program with full standard and alternative medical, dental, vision, and mental health coverage for all, publicly funded through progressive taxation and controlled by democratically elected assemblies of health care workers and patients. We call for a health care system that emphasizes preventive care, respects patients' privacy, gives special attention to the needs of the physically and mentally disabled, and conducts treatment and research unimpaired by sexism, racism, or homophobia. We call for public ownership and worker and community control of the pharmaceutical industry. We call for educational programs to help prevent drug addiction; for voluntary treatment programs for addicts and alcoholics; and for the availability of free, sterile needles for those still using IV drugs. We support the right to choose or refuse medical treatment, the right to die, and the right to assisted suicide. Housing The Socialist Party recognizes the right of all people to high quality, low cost housing. We call for a major public investment in the construction of low cost, high quality housing. We support the formation of non-profit land trusts and of socially owned, tenant controlled housing cooperatives. We call for the renovating and remodeling existing homes to bring them up to housing and safety codes, as part of a broader public works program We (Labour party) took one hell of a beating on Thursday night having lost the four shire councils we were defending. Many hard working councillors have lost their seats for one reason only. The parliamentarians had their hands in the pot, the fact it was all the party's who were at made not the slightest difference. Such is the electorates fickle understanding between national and local issues. These elections were local elections and should be fought on local issues yet the electorate never do that. If the electorate wanted to give MP's a bloody nose how come the Tories won 250 seats, after all in theory the expenses scandals was not the fault of just Labour yet they lost over 250 seats.Who said politics is easy? Prime minister Brown had to reshuffle the cabinet early due mainly for being stabbed in the back by the very people who he appointed to the cabinet, one forgets it is the prerogative of the prime mister to hire and fire those he chooses to serve in the cabinet. Sunday night will almost be as bad Thursday's local elections. The electorate seem to have no interest in European elections and there are many reasons for that, again the electorate can give the government a real bashing by voting for other political party's without actually giving labour the boot in Westminster. As the European Election is based on proportional representation, Labour will not lose all its seats but there is no question they will be significantly reduced at the expense of the minor parties. I will be more interested in the turn out. 40% and above would appear to good, we British don't take a lot of interest in the European Union but I don't include myself in that. Over 2 million jobs and 70% of our trade is through the EU so we should take more interest than we do. Come Monday questions will be asked can Brown survive. I hope so, the last thing we need is a leadership election followed by a general election has the reforms that need to be introduced will be put on the back burner. Of course Cameron wants an election he thinks he can win, so far he has evaded the the big policy issues. He is all waffle and no substance.
